The dark side of gloom

Article Abstract:

Biologist Lewis Wolpert was admitted into the psycho-geriatric ward at the Royal Free Hospital, London, England, in 1995, suffering from severe mental depression. His experience of depression and the death of his second wife has led Wolpert to write a book called 'Malignant Sadness' and feature in a television series about depression. He feels people should have some knowledge of science in order to make important decisions. Wolpert admits religion has a place in some people's lives. He is very derisive of holists and sociologist of science.

And the outlook, warm... very, very warm

Article Abstract:

Energy expert Jeremy Leggett claims that the oil industry is guilty of crimes against humanity in his book entitled 'The Carbon War: Dispatches from the End of the Oil Century'. It is argued that if greenhouse gas emissions are not reduced, victims of global warming will be counted in hundreds of millions in the future. Action by oil companies to curb reductions in greenhouse gas emissions is vilified.
