Article Abstract:

US Vice-President Al Gore is likely to be the nominated Democrat in the year 2000 US Presidential elections, while leader of the Democrats in the House of Representatives Richard Gephardt is considered to have an outside chance of being nominated. Governor of Texas George W. Bush, the son of former President George Bush, is perceived as the most likely Republican nominee, with Senator John Sidney McCain III perceived as the outsider. Gore will be disadvantaged if he fails to win primaries by a large enough margin.
