Today's special? Snacks for one

Article Abstract:

An overview of the food services provided by universities in the UK for their staff and students and the influence that the staff and students can exert in order to get the quality of food improved. Many universities in the UK have largely done away with their traditional canteens and food services, replacing them with a variety of snack and fast food providers. Concerns have been raised regarding this trend, with some querying how a diet of junk food affects the students, while many teachers simply wish they still had canteens where they could get away from their students for a while.

Anglo-Saxon 'weed' choking Euro flowers?

Article Abstract:

As competition to attract foreign students grows, more and more European institutions are offering courses in English. Some academics argue that this is a bad thing, both for the individual European languages but also for the English language itself. Some contend that by making English the standard for communication, English itself is becoming decultured and denationalised, however others argue that this is acceptable if it means that more and more people are able to communicate freely.
