Universities lose out as FE scoops cash

Article Abstract:

British further education colleges have seen an increase of 365 million pounds sterling in their funding allocation for 2001-2001, an increase in real terms of 7.7%. Universities face a reduction in funding of 1% in real terms, though a 295 million pounds sterling increase in money terms for 2001-2002. Universities have suffered cuts in real terms over ten years, and there is concern about the impact on pay and infrastructure. More funding will come from students' tuition fees in 2001-2002.
