...believe American studies is vital in the new world order

Article Abstract:

The Director of the Eccles Centre for American Studies at the British Library argues, in the run up to the 2004 annual conference of the British Association for American Studies, that in a world where the US is becoming an ever more dominant force, American studies is vital in order to understand the new world order. It is argued that the strength of American studies lies in its ability to provide a multidisciplinary analysis of the US and its actions, politics and culture.
