...think bullying in university departments is on the increase

Article Abstract:

It is suggested that the increasing level of pressure being placed on university department heads, both from above, by vice-chancellors, and from below, by students who want their requirement met, is resulting in an increase in bullying in university heads. It is suggested that at least some of this could be alleviated if department heads, who are often no more than academics themselves, received proper training, if policies were properly implemented and of official codes of practice were put in place.
