...want to see vice-chancellors on the picket line

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the pay offer currently being made to university and college faculty by vice-chancellors and the impact that this pay offer is having on staff morale. It is argued that, especially in the light of figures that show that the pay packets of vice-chancellors continue to grow at an unabated rate, the offer of a 3.44% pay increase for the people that are educating and moulding the minds of the country's future leaders is not enough and that vice-chancellors really need to re-examine their priorities when it comes to assessing what is important.

General secretary of the Association of University Teachers (AUT), said that most universities recognise that tactics such as docking pay will be a catalyst for prolonged and more damaging disruption.
