Accessories: Flurry or Blizzard, Industry Set for Healthy Holiday Sales

Article Abstract:

Suppliers of accessories are uncertain as to the amount of growth the market will experience this 1984 Christmas selling season. Estimates of growth over 1983 sales range between twenty and one hundred percent. VCR head cleaners, computer disk drive cleaners and CD care products are expected to see the largest growth. Photographs of some products are included.

Blank audio tape suppliers are pushing to expand their sales. The market is expected to grow between five and seven percent in 1984. The audio tape market is less competitive than the videotape market and the profit potential is good. Renewed interest in audio tape may result in pricing pressures.

High end installers of autosound equipment believe that the aggressive stance of auto makers will affect them positively. They believe that better equipment in cars will stimulate consumer awareness. Dealers are also optimistic about auto security equipment sales.
