Beams of light hold promise for information systems

Article Abstract:

Optoelectronics production in Japan in FY1999 increased 13.9% from the previous year, reaching 6.419 trillion yen. The output for FY2000 may climb17.1% to 7.517 trillion yen which includes equipment an products such as optical fibers, display elements, optical transmitters, optical measuring instruments, optical input and output equipment, lasers, optical discs and optical parts. In FY2000, Japan is expected to realize a 12.6% increase in demand for optical equipment and devices, reaching 4.72 trillion yen.

Yamaha intensifies efforts to retain European A/V stronghold

Article Abstract:

Yamaha Corp, Japan, has been working to expand the already brisk sales of its audio/visual (A/V) component systems in Europe in FY 1999. European sales of its amplifiers and receivers grew substantially in FY 1998. The company plans to continue the promotion of its home theater systems (HTS) and HTS-related products. It also plans to expand the sales of digital video disk players by marketing them as components within larger systems and packages.

Yamaha prepares to license mLAN digital interface system

Article Abstract:

Yamaha Corp has launched a campaign to promote the company's licensing program for its mLAN digital interface technology. The Japanese company targets makers of electronic instruments, producers of professional-use and general-purpose audio equipment, and software developers. Yamaha also intends to attract third-party license-holders by offering different licensing options.
