Sounds of silicon: music lovers now turn to semiconductors

Article Abstract:

The audio industry has added silicon audio players to its list of products in its drive to shift from optical discs to silicon. Manufacturers are preparing to launch new silicon audio players, or semiconductor audio players, that utilize seiconductor devices in place of the magnetic or optical media to replay and record sounds. The products, which are compact and lightweight, are equipped with MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 international standards for audio compression.

To revive market, audio makers renew focus on sound quality

Article Abstract:

The transition that has taken place since the introduction of compact discs to the current day digital audio products, is discussed. The presence of different kinds of audio products such as amplifiers, high-end digital amplifiers, speaker systems, different varieties within these products, with focus on quality are also discussed.

Big-screen displays Face Expanding possibilities in home, office Use

Article Abstract:

The arrival of digital-format broadcasting technology that will offer high-definition TV (HDTV) images is expected to result in the proliferation of large screen displays for both home and office use. Large television screens with uniform, fine-resolution attributes are expected to receive HDTV broadcasts with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The technologies being considered for large-screen applications include cathode-ray tubes, plasma panels, liquid crystal displays and various projection systems.
