Booming opportunities

Article Abstract:

Baby boomers and the elderly from ages 50 and up, make up 25% of the United States population, and this demographic represent a strong buying market for consumer electronics and technology. Senior Living Study, a research done by the Internet Home Alliance provides useful information for manufacturers on the customer base, for better product and development. The results of the study are briefly presented.

Taking a position: the cost of going green

Article Abstract:

Public consciousness is increasing when it comes to preserving the environment. There are costs involved when pursuing environmental sustainability, such as replacing toxic materials with safer ones, but this step adds more cost to a product making its price less competitive. Suggestions on how to go about going green are provided.

Time to revisit DRM debate

Article Abstract:

A key concern among electronics manufacturers is intellectual property, particularly piracy and consumer adoption. Manufacturers are more interested in making content free, because a piece of hardware is needed for every piece of electronic media. The issue of closed electronics and digital rights management is discussed.
