CES Sneak Preview: Telephones

Article Abstract:

Telephone manufacturers are approaching the 1984 CES quietly because of the problems facing the industry. Telephone suppliers will be presented mostly low end or feature products. Uniden is introducing a new line of feature phones. AT&T is offering new modules for its Genesis line. Comdial and Webcor will be introducing high end lines. Cordless suppliers will be showing new 46-49 MHz products. AT&T, Comdial, Cobra and Mura will all introduce lower end phones.

Telephones: New Retail Winners Finding Profit Away from Home

Article Abstract:

Competition in telephone retailing is growing every day. Retailers should offer complete lines of communications accessories and equipment. Areas such as two-line phones, interconnect, service, papers and beepers and cellular radio can help retailers keep ahead of the competition. Most dealers are still wary of telecomputing products.

Mura's Smith on Telephones: More Stable, Two-Tiered Market

Article Abstract:

The telephone market is two-tiered. Overstocked corded and cordless phones are moving at close-out prices. The telephone market continues to grow. Standard and feature phones will sell best this Christmas, 1984. The market will be more stable in 1985. A photograph of Mura's Smith is included.
