CR-4801TE/TS recordable CD drives

Article Abstract:

Mitsumi Electric Co Ltd has introduced its CR-4801TE and CR-4801TS recordable CD drives. The drives can handle up to 650 MB of data and perform 4x-speed writing and 8x-speed reading functions, and can write through various methods such as packet writing. The interface of CR-4801TE conforms to Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics specifications, while CR-4801TS's interface responds to SCSI-2. Both models have 200 ms access times and a MTBF of 50,000 power-on hours or more.

RW80QU1, RW74EU1 rewritable CDs

Article Abstract:

Mitsubishi Chemical Corp introduces the RW80QU1 and RW74EU1 rewritable CDs. The products feature the company's Super Eutectic phase-change recording film that enables rewrites at four to 10 times normal speeds, noise-free recording and reproduction, as well as long-term data storage. The RQ74EU1 conforms to Orange Book Part III, Vol 2, v1.0 specifications, while RQ80EU1 is fully compatible with Orange Book Part III, Vol 1 specifications.

Recordable, rewritable CD drives write at 4x speeds

Article Abstract:

Yamaha Corp and Ricoh Company Ltd, both of Japan, have introduced their individual recordable and rewritable CD drives that can write four times faster than other similar drives. Yamaha's CRW4416S-VK external drive and CRW4416SX-VK built-in drive cost $534 and $603, respectively. These CD drives feature 16x reading speeds. Ricoh's MP7040A-WE built-in drive costs $516 and boasts of 29x reading speeds.
