Camcorders' digital shifts offer clues for A/V survival

Article Abstract:

The continuing success of camcorders could be dependent on two important developments, the digitalization of camcorders and the increase in the household use of computers. At present, camcorders are used by a small percentage of consumers because they are still considered expensive toys. Camcorder's usage of digital formats would mean they can be linked directly to computers and this could result in their use as business tools and not just a hobby. Manufacturers should study carefully these developments because they could increase the potential and growth of their camcorder business.
