Cordless lawn mowers: ready to compete?

Article Abstract:

A report on lawn mowers put out by the Southern California Edison Co reveals that the use of electric lawn mowers would reduce energy consumption and pollution. Black & Decker has developed a new cordless electric lawn mower that should prove competitive with conventional gasoline-powered lawn mowers.

Electric cars: how big is the market?

Article Abstract:

Arizona Public Service Co.'s Saturn SC electric vehicle (EV) broke speed records by reaching 105-mph. Electric utilities, which are developing the cars, say that government regulations and improved battery magnitude may prevent mass production, but the EVs should be on the road by 1998.
