Dealers, Distributors: Despite Turmoil, Market Still Strong

Claudia Gardner from B.A. Pargh expects their phone business to double in 1984. Nick Parrinelli from Gimbels is expecting a twenty-five per cent increase in sales with accessories continuing as the most profitable item. Phone Source's Randy Strunk sees a move towards high tech telephones. Bob Flowers of Rose's believes phones will be a day-in-day-out business. Just Phones' Bob Armond believes a shakeout at the phone wholesale level will benefit retailers.

Satellite earth station manufacturers are preparing for a busy summer. They are offering lower prices, sophisticated dealer programs and more user friendly products. Earth station system sales are expected to reach 600,000 in 1984 and some suppliers are moving manufacturing operations overseas and attempting to enter the mass market. Marketing programs are advancing as fast as product sophistication.
