Eaton makes a move to Amsterdam

Article Abstract:

Eaton Corporation , the engineering company, has announced that it is to move its European headquarters from London, UK to Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1999. As a result of the move some 32 of a total of 64 employees will loose their jobs through redundancy. Nine employees have been offered other positions with the remaining 24 moving to the new Amsterdam office. The move will bring the company closer to its customers. *

UK: WARMINSTER BOUGHT BY DENMANS

The retail lighting chain Warminster Lighting Centre has been purchased by Denmans Electrical, the lighting and wholesaling group, for GB[pound] 1.225mn, plus as much as GB[pound] 425,000 annually. Warminster has outlets in the south west of England which operate under the Lighting Direct and No 1 Lighting names.

50 jobs will be saved at the Congleton site of > Siemens whose switchboard business has been purchased for an unknown amount by the private UK automation and electrical company ATG. GB[pound] 350,000 will be spent on refurbishing the Congleton site.
