Electronic devices expand transmission flexibility

Article Abstract:

Electric utilities' transmission systems have become more complex to run due to a lack of new facilities. Electronic devices are being developed to improve the efficiency of transmission systems control. New devices include thyristor-controlled series capacitors and solid-state tapchangers.
