Fire-hazard control during coal handling

Article Abstract:

Electric utilities are using more western subbituminous coal, which is more friable, causes more dust due to low density, and is prone to spontaneous combustion. Comprehensive fire-safety systems for coal handling coordinate minimization of friction, oxygen and dust, firefighting and detection equipment, and human awareness and control.
