Fujitsu Ten's Mexican plant expands to handle North American demand

Article Abstract:

Fujitsu Ten de Mexico SA de CV (FTdM), the Tamaulipas, Mexico-based unit of Fujitsu Ten Ltd of Japan, announced plans to double the present size of its manufacturing facility. The expansion, which began in Feb 2000, and is expected to be concluded in spring 2001, will allow the facility to increase its manufacturing capacity for car audio equipment by four to five times the present level by 2003. FTdM workforce of 350 is also expected to rise to 1,000 by 2003.

Pioneer's Mexican plant ramps up production of OEM car radios, amps

Article Abstract:

Pioneer Manufacturing de Mexico SA de CV (PMM) of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the Pioneer Corp unit that makes all of the company's amplifiers, plans to venture into the manufacture of OEM car audio equipment such as CD receivers in FY2000. The company, established in 1996 to take advantage of low-cost aluminum in North America and inexpensive Mexican labor, began making OEM products in Feb 2000. PPM intends to ship 800,000 units of the OEM equipment in FY2000.

By streamlining, Alcom sees way to double production in two years

Article Abstract:

Alcom Electronics, the Mexican join venture between Alpine Company Ltd and Alps Electric Company Ltd, has nearly doubled its output of car entertainment electronics by streamlining its manufacturing procedures. The company, which increased production by 40% in FY1998, is on line to increase FY1999 production by the same amount. Alcom, established in Tamaulipas, Mexico, in 1992, exports 80% of its output to the US market.
