Information theory forms basis for Sharp's 1-bit encoding system

Article Abstract:

Sharp Corp's SM-SX100 amplifiers, which began shipping in Aug 1999, was developed based on 1-bit encoding technology. The system, a deviation from the usual pulse code modulation system used in compact disc formats, uses delta modulation coding to transform analog signals into 1-bit signals. Sharp, which has received a number of awards and accolades for its SM- SX100 amplifier, is confident that the device will find further use for audio equipment requiring superior sound quality.

SU-A707, SU-A808 stereo amplifiers

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd's Y74,800 SU-A808 and Y54,800 SU-A707 stereo amplifiers incorporate the company's low-noise Variable Gain Control Amplifier to reproduce data across the broad dynamic range of DVD audio and to reach 114dB S/N ratios. To suppress noise from magnetic flux leakage, both products employ an R-format core transformer. The A808 and A707 models weigh 8.3kg and 7.4kg, respectively.
