Test-made laser attains stable threshold current

Article Abstract:

A research group at the Tokyo Institute of Technology's Precision and Intelligence Laboratory has developed a test-made semiconductor laser that offers a 1.55 micrometer wavelength and maintains a 1.6-fold threshold current despite temperature changes between 25 to 85 degrees C. Unlike conventional semiconductor lasers in the 1.55 micrometer band, the test- made laser uses aluminum-gallium-indium-arsenide to improve light amplification characteristics.
