'Mobile entertainment' theme gives JVC ideas for distinctive approach

Article Abstract:

Victor Co of Japan has launched a new car audio player system that is compatible with minidiscs (MD) as well as compact discs (CD). Its new KD- MX3000 combines a CD changer control with radio receiver and MD player. Its three mainstay products for the car electronics market in 1998 include the 12-disc CD changer CH-X1200, the KD-MX3000 MD and CD receiver system and the mobile audio-visual system with VHS format. JVC's integration of proven technologies with innovative designs and ideas has made it a formidable player in the global car audio equipment market.

Sony focuses on 1/3.6-inch image sensors

Article Abstract:

Japanese manufacturing giant Sony Corp's latest charge coupled device (CCD) image sensors pack 1.25 million effective pixels within a 1/3.6-inch form factor. These sensors work in compact digital cameras to handle zoom and quick-reecording functions. The company intends to make its 1/3.6-inch image sensors a mainstay within its CCD business operations. It envisions digital still cameras replacing compact film cameras, the annual market for which totals about 37 million units.

CF-C33J8C, CF-C33J8K handheld computers

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd's CF-C33J8C and CF-C33J8K Windows98 handheld computers boast of built-in v9.0, K56Flex modems with built-in speakerphone, fax functions and answering machine. Both products have a 96MB synchronous DRAM, an 8.4-in thin-film transistor color LCD and an Intel MMX 233MHz Pentium processor. The CF-C33J8C and CF-C33J8K both measure 182 X 225 X 25.4mm, but the former is slightly lighter in weight.
