PCB update: the struggle continues

Article Abstract:

Electric utilities' efforts to comply with EPA's PCB rules include these activities: a 'PCB-transformer' retrofilled with silicone dielectric coolant and reclassified as 'PCB-contaminated'; a custom-designed transformer replacement package; PCB capacitor replacement programs including non-required changes; new PCB field measurement techniques; storage and spill-cleanup efforts; and new PCB literature.

Maximize the savings from pooling

The MAPS program (multi-area production simulation) represents an efficient means to plan future pooling arrangements. The multi-area capabilities allow detailed analysis of each generating unit in relation to pool. Program input requirements and output summaries are given.
