Philips adds new CD-R components

Article Abstract:

Philips is launching four new CD-R products in Budapest, Hungary. The new products include a CD dual-deck player/recorder and a CD-R minisystem. According to Roland Wijmen, product marketing manager for Philips CD-R, CD-R is just an additional feature that was missing from the CD format. The company's CDR880, which was shipped in June 1998, follows the CDR870. The new model features Direct Line Recording, which cuts the connection between the source material and the blank disc. Meanwhile, the company has also added the CD-R feature into its minisystem models.
