U.S. consumer electronics market poised for 6% growth

Article Abstract:

The US consumer electronics market in 2001 is projected to increase 6% to $95.61 billion from the previous year. The Consumer Electronics Assn (CEA) predicted that sales of digital televisions and monitors will reach 1.13 million units. This is an 80% rise from 2000 and is expected to create a market of $2 billion. However, sales of DVD equipment are forecast to grow to only 52%. According to CEA, the size of the US market in 2002 will exceed $100 billion and will increase to $101.8 billion.

Digital technology to stimulate growth of U.S. A/V market

Article Abstract:

The electronic industry expects the US audio-video market to continue to register growth, stimulated by the ongoing shift to digital technology, despite the slowdown in the country's economy. With annual demand at 30 million units, the US TV market is an important one to makers of consumer electronics. TV trends in the US include the spread of satellite digital broadcastig and terrestrial digital broadcasting.
