Researchers detail gigabit-scale DRAM cell effort

Article Abstract:

Researchers attending the IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting in Dec 1995 reported on efforts to develop a Gigabit (Gb) scale Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) cell. Computers and other devices currently use up to 16-megabit DRAMs and 64-megabit DRAMs are becoming available. Three new advanced technologies have been used to develop the 1 Gb cell although a number of problems must be overcome including the preservation of sufficient storage capacities. One researcher reported that he expects 1 Gb DRAMS to be common in personal computers by 2000.

DMS: keeping your Eagles, Tomcats and Mustangs up and running

Article Abstract:

The life cycles of semiconductors and integrated circuits are decreasing to 1.5 years or less. As a result, military products are being manufactured with parts that are obsolete by the time they enter the market and it becomes difficult for defense procurement to obtain replacement parts. One solution to this dilemma is the introduction of an aftermarket integrated circuit manufacturer that would purchase the obsolete technology from the original equipment manufacturer.
