Retail choice coming after all

Electric cooperatives and green marketers are increasing their market share in the retail energy sector. Rural cooperatives provide diverse energy products, such as cable television and self-generated power. Environmentally aware residents prefer green energy products sold by green marketers.

Competition in Rhode Island: the party no one attended

Article Abstract:

The state of Rhode Islands passed a retail choice law in 1996 to provide citizens with choices through the opening of its electric utilities markets. However, the move failed due to increases in wholesale rates and a lack of understanding about the long-term effects of the law on prices.
