Several consumer electronics business-to-business (B2B) websites have been launched by dot-com companies to connect manufacturers, retailers and consumers. Such Internet sites are hosted by Birdland.com, CETRADE.com, HotOffTheWire.com, Redtagbiz.com and TheReturnExchange.com. Dot-com companies are encouraged to develop consumer electronics B2B sites because of its immense market potential that is expected to surpass the $7.29 trillion mark by 2004.

Retailing extreme DVDs: the highs, the lows

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers are unable to meet the demand for low-end digital video disc (DVD) players due to an underestimation of the technology's popularity. A Panasonic official predicts shipments of DVD players to reach a conservative 2 million units in 1999, higher than the 1.63 million projected by the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association. On the high-end front, models are becoming more pricey as manufacturers have yet to see a ceiling on demand.

Getting bigger all the time

Furniture makers have launched their latest line of home theater furnitures. Bell 'Oggetti has introduced its $2,280 WU-900 Romari System, which consists of two AR-903 Alto Romari and one B-902 Romari units. Bush Furniture introduced the model HT71748 home theater furniture which accomodates most TVs up to 53 inches, with a suggested retail price of $799. Other new entries are Great! American Oak's deluxe version of its Shaker model and Sauder Woodworking Co's North Pointe collection.
