Rise in DVC demand follows new uses, features

Consumer electronics manufacturers, including Sony Corp, Victor Company of Japan Ltd and Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co, have posted increased sales of digital video cassette (DVC) camcorders. Manufacturers attribute the significant rise in demand for DVC camcorders to innovations made to the product. This type of camcorder used to be only tapped for recording family growth, vacation and hobbies. With its enhanced features, it can download moving images from the Internet and produce finer quality pictures compared to analog models

Computer uses attract more digital camcorder buyers

Article Abstract:

A growing number of Japanese consumers buy digital camcorders for personal computer (PC) applications, according to a research conducted by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd. The study showed that consumers in Japan buy a digital camcorder because they want to transfer captured images to a PC. This function is now the second most popular reason for purchasing the device. The Matsushita research found out that 63% of digital camcorder purchasers cited a desire to record the stages of their children's development.

Matsushita deals cards to digital camcorders, detects growing demand

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd intends to secure a greater share of the camcorder global market by offering additional models that store images and sound on compact, large capacity cards such as Multimedia cards. The company has made a move in that direction by launching the DVC Digicam NV-C7, a digital camcorder that uses a Secure Digital card or a Multimedia card to store images, in Jul 2000. The company plans to launch four other digital camcorders based on the NV-C7, starting Sep 2000.
