SRS-VS1 speaker systems

Sony Corp has unveiled the SRS-VS1 speaker system with a digital Surround processor. The SRS-VS1 system uses Virtual Phone Technology Speakers that allow users to listen to 5.1-channel Digital Surround sound with just two speakers, instead of five. It also comes with the Mega Bass function for excellent reproduction of bass sounds but without the use of a sub-woofer. The Mega Bass function automatically adjusts boost in the bass range according to the sound volume.

Kenwood's Avino BR-2001 stereo

Kenwood has introduced the Avino BR-2001 stereo set with MiniDisc function and separate speakers. The Avino comes with 10-cm woofers and a 1.9-cm silk dome tweeters with neodymium magnet, which aids in the reproduction of delicate sounds. It also incorporates features for doubling and quadrupling normal recording and reproduction times. Music from a CD can be transferred to an MD at double speed. The Avino sells for 98,000 yen or $907.
