Sales at Sony's European electrnics climb 14%

Article Abstract:

Sony Europe GmbH has increased its sales of electronic equipment by 14% in fiscal year 1999. Sales of electronics reached 8.5 billion euro, while its total sales reached $14.42 billion. The company already controls 21.1% of western Europe's consumer electronics market while its share of the eastern Europe market is slated at 21.5%. Sony Europe plans to further strengthen its presence in the European market by focusing on products that have been lagging behind, including personal computers and mobile communications phones.

Strong car sales in North America give Alpine hope for 2-digit growth

Article Abstract:

Alpine Electronics Inc, a Japanese manufacturer of car DVD players, car navigation systems and other mobile multimedia products, expects to post double-digit growth in the car audio-video (A/V) market in fiscal year 2000. The forecast is based on strong sales of its products in North America, which is driven by the rise in new car sales in the region. Sales growth may also be influenced by the company's introduction of a new line of car A/V products in the latter half of 2000.

Despite European doldrums, supply woes, Pioneer expects rise in sales

Article Abstract:

Pioneer Corp expects a 5% rise in sales of car audio-video equipment for the aftermaket in fiscal year 2000. The forecast is based on continued strong sales in North America and the recovery of its operations in Central America, South America and Asia. Increased sales may also be driven by a lineup of car navigation system the company will launch in the second half of 2000.
