Sanyo responds to higher material costs in tough environment

Article Abstract:

Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., one of the world's top manufactures of small rechargeable batteries, has aggressive strategies to expand its business further in FY2004. Sanyo forecast that with the introduction of the new model UF553450L, the production volume of batteries using the hybrid positive electrode material would expand more than 10-fold that of production of 2003.

Article Abstract:

The strategies adopted by Mobile Energy Co. of Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. with respect to rechargeable batteries for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and power-assisted bicycles, so as to keep up their demand, and the market share of these batteries, are discussed.
