Silicone injection restores failing submarine cables

Article Abstract:

Orcas Power and Light Co. of Eastsound, WA, chose to inject silicone instead of replacing its damaged cross-linked polyethylene-insulated submarine cables to save on costs. The utility used Utilx's CableCure silicone fluid which has a 10-year reliability guarantee.

New technology improves loop-feeder schemes

Electric utilities are now employing more sensitive and more responsive utility distribution systems. Loop-feeder schemes of electric utilities can benefit from the new technology that offers shorter power restoration time and faster energizing time.
