Telephones: Gold Rush May Be Over; but Market Still Laced with Profit Lode

Article Abstract:

Most telephone suppliers still believe that there is opportunity for profit in the telephone market. Growth is expected to continue but not at 1983 rates. Manufacturers have been concentrating on quality products rather than low end ones. Some retailers are still suffering from problems with old frequency cordless and one piece phones. Two-line phone sales are booming.

New Cordless Telephones: Dealers Ready, Await Bell for Round Two

Retailers of cordless phones are concerned about pricing and high inventories of old models. They are anxious for the transition to new frequencies to be over with. New models should stimulate interest in the category again. Prices for new models should range from $89 to $159.
