The 'supremes" help solve profitability problems

Article Abstract:

It is no longer always illegal for a manufacturer and a reseller to set a minimum price on a manufactured product, the Supreme Court suggests that "rule of reason" should be applied to find out if a supplier's pricing practices are legal or not. The court's decision will permit manufacturers to decide what consumers will think of as the market value of their products, but no matter how manufacturers and resellers peg their prices, consumers will always find low-price alternatives to high-priced goods.
