Utilities turn to photovoltaics for telecommunications

Electric utilities are opting for solar electric power systems as a cost-effective alternative in telecommunications. Photovoltaics are ideal for remote areas because they require little fuel and are sturdy in adverse climates.

Strip mining and the utilities

Domestic coal indicated as major utility fuel for near future. Mining methods depend on depth of coal seam. Federal laws require reclamation of mined land. NCA predicts 3.5% rise in electricity needs, increase of coal as fuel.
