Voice-Refining technique enhances clarity of recordings, loudspeakers

Article Abstract:

SRS Labs Inc uses the Voice Intelligibility Processor (VIP) technology to make the human voice hearable under various circumstances. The system, which utilizes digital signal processing and analysis, is capable of eliminating noise and amplifying the voice formants without degrading the essence of the signal. SRS' VIP technology, invented by Arnold Klayman in 1987, is used to make products and processes that improve the performance of audio equipment.

New developments put MPEG-1 features within common reach

Article Abstract:

Several products that integrate the Motion Picture Experts Group-1 (MPEG-1) digital image and audio data compression standard have been developed. This development, coupled with improved personal computers, allow the use of PCs for viewing moving images. MPEG-1 image compression systems are also expected to have several business applications, such as business reports, and household use, such as home-based electronic album and video CD production.
