With balanced camera lineup, Sony extends reach to wider range of customers

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp expects to attract a wide range of customers with its 11 models of digital cameras. The company aims to capture the top share of the worldwide digital camera market of around 12 million units per year. Of the 11 digital camera models, five are Mavica and six are Cyber-shot, which, respectively use disc and Memory sticks for data storage. Two of the Mavica cameras are the FD90 and FD95, and the six Cyber-shot cameras are the DSC-F505V, DSC-F55V, DSC-S70, DSC-S50, DSC-S30 and the DSC-P1.

After investing in development, Sony aims for 25% of global market

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp has intensified sales of digital cameras planning to produce around 3 million units per year, which is about 25% of the worldwide market. In response to a growing demand for the products, the company has invested in product development, resulting in the introduction of the DSC- S35, DSC-S50 and DSC-S70 digital cameras. Sony accounts for 30% of the US digital camera market. However, in Japan and other countries in Asia, the company does not enjoy the same strong position.
