Compact lens system for HDTV clears technological hurdles

Article Abstract:

Canon will display its latest HDTV camera lens model, the Digi Super 25 XS, at the NAB '99 annual trade show. The 25 XS does not suffer from color aberration since it is made of fluorite-UD glass. It also employs the three-group internal focusing system for wide-angle shots and for countering varying degrees of aberration. The 25 XS also has a constant angle focusing system that corrects the viewing angle when the lens is in focus.

Lanthanum-cobalt ferrite magnets

Article Abstract:

Hitachi Metals Ltd of Japan has introduced a lanthanum-cobalt (LaCo) ferrite magnet in 1999. The LaCo magnet is said to have better magentic and temperature characteristics than conventional strontium ferrite magnets. Its residual magnetic flux density can reach 4,500 Br:G, while its coercive force is over 4,500i Hc:Oe. It can be used in home appliances requiring low power consumption.
