The March 29-April 6, 1997 New York International Auto Show attracted more than 1.1 million to the Javits Center in New York City. Auto stereo buffs enjoyed the fine OEM system on the Volvo C70 used in the Val Kilmer film 'The Saint.' Several new car navigation systems were also unveiled.

MES(S): does the Mobile Electronics Show have a future?
Article Abstract:
The Mobile Electronics Show has been plagued by declining industry participation and attendance, which fell 39% at the April '97 MES in Atlanta, GA. Some exhibitors complained that the sponsoring Consumer Electronics Manufacturer's Assoc should move MES to late summer.

FUSE '98 exhibitors included the latest in mobile electronics, and a 100-car auto sound contest. However, the show was under-attended due to being too far from the beach, and the contest was marred by loud rock bands elsewhere in the hall.
