A methodology for integrating economic criteria in design and production management decisions

Article Abstract:

It has become increasingly critical for companies to resolve production costing beginning from the design stage as cost management techniques have to support decision making by designers, production managers and manufacturers. A study therefore developed a cost calculation and allocation methodology involving the double modeling of the company as a possible solution. The proposed approach aims to bolster technical decisions about products, equipment or organizational structure.

Life-cycle cost analysis of the labor factor

Article Abstract:

The life-cycle costing technique is applied to the analysis of employee costs over the whole employment cycle from recruitment to retirement. Labor costs are graphed similar to production equipment life cycle costs. These are divided into three basic categories which are employment costs such as recruitment and training; operation costs such as wages and overhead; and work environmental costs such as costs of absences and sickness benefits.

Human-resource-based models of production systems

Article Abstract:

A modified production system model that incorporates human resource management consideration is derived to account with a greater degree of accuracy the existence of labor costs induced by factors other than those technological in character. Such costs have many times been substantial and, consequently, require greater need for coming up with a more comprehensive production management simulation.
