A mid-range theory of interfunctional integration, its antecedents and outcomes

Article Abstract:

Companies need to overcome barriers in order to obtain the best value from innovations produced by research, and this includes developing skills in functional integration. Such skills can help to improve timing of technology developments and reduce uncertainty levels. Barriers exist when specialization is intense, and large multifunctional teams may involve communication problems. Further research is needed on these barriers, and how they can be tackled.
