A renewable route to propylene glycol

Article Abstract:

Production of biodiesel fuels have expanded tremendously over the years, and chemical producers now face with an abundance of the byproduct glycerin. Several researches have been made on the conversion of glycerin to propylene glycol, an environmentally safe chemical which has uses in various industries. The efforts of the chemical industry and the government to develop propylene glycol conversion processes are discussed.
