Adobe brings new meaning to engineering collaboration

Article Abstract:

An engineering design software called 'Adobe Acrobat 3D' improves design and engineering information workflows within manufacturing firms and their supply chains, by which engineers can share and manage information both internally and externally. The software tracks, audits and aggregates comments on compressed PDF files and pulls together data from a number of different legacy CAD systems into a single PDF.

Material retains springiness at 1,100 degree C

Article Abstract:

A new material for piston rings that manages to retain its springiness properties at temperatures of 1,100 degree Celsius, leading to potential applications in high temperature turbines and aircraft engines is presented. Incolloy MA956, is produced by a mechanical alloying process, which allows the introduction of ceramic materials such as yttria without the use of extreme temperatures.

Drive eliminates motor control cabinets and cable runs

Article Abstract:

A drive, that enables users to take motor control right to the heart of their application, eliminating the need for motor control centres and costly cable runs, is launched to satisfy decentralized drive installations. It performs speed variation using both open- and closed-loop flux vector control and is fully water- and dust resistant.
