Optimal allocation policies in a two-echelon inventory problems with fixed shipment costs

Article Abstract:

A stock allocation problem in a two-echelon, two-period inventory/distribution system consisting of a central warehouse and two identical retailers is studied. An optimal second period allocation model is developed under fixed shipment costs. It is shown that increased uncertainty in the system increases the possibility of stockouts creating the need for holding reserve stock and performing a second shipment.

On a forward algorithm for a generalized production inventory problem

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze a generalized production inventory problem using a deterministic optimal control model. In line with this, the existence of regeneration points was considered. A forecast horizon for a given decision horizon was then determined. Results indicated that an optimal control step by step on successive decision intervals can be realized by a forward algorithm.
