Batteries: full speed ahead

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers all over the world are using new materials and designs to improve the performance of batteries. The battery types which have the most hope for the future are based lithium-ion, lithium-ion polymer, nickel-metal hydride, and zinc-air technologies. The solid-state nature of lithium-polymer batteries is an important development because it does not use liquids, eliminating the possibility of leaks or the venting of potentially toxic gases.

Tomography makes commercial strides

Article Abstract:

Tomography is emerging as a viable commercial application in chemical process industries. Traditionally used as for medical diagnostics, tomography's other applications are restricted by limited knowledge and equipment costs due to the integration of advanced electronic components into the system. Electrical resistance tomography and electrical capacitance tomography are among the more popular tomographic uses.
