Controller corrects vibrations on the fly

Article Abstract:

Group Lotus has designed an accurate high-speed positional control system for hydraulically-actuated engine valves. Ten thousand times per second closed-loop correction provides an advance on cam and follower systems. Control is based on modern digital signal processing chips programmed in C computer language. Although designed for a test engine the company is investigating cost effectiveness in other automotive control functions.
