Controlling overhead costs

Article Abstract:

Minimizing overhead expenses requires constant focus and self-control. Reducing overhead costs is 90% related to successful employee relations. Suggestions include hiring only the most qualified personnel possible, rotating job assignments to provide a thorough and continuous learning experience for each employee, establishing an open office environment where no secrets are kept and employees can freely criticize and make suggestions on work processes, keeping employees up-to-date in training, and giving very high priority for quality.

Rules of thumb

Article Abstract:

Guidelines for managing engineers are proposed. The seven rules of thumb include instilling pride, basing promotion on technical competence, providing an ordered environment, practicing task assignment through managed volunteerism, formally acknowledging achievement, employing creative tension and encouraging professional leadership. The rules can be used to maximize productivity within each distinct organizational environment.

Developing careers: a different perspective

Article Abstract:

Techniques on how managers can acquire and retain dependable, skilled and the best employees possible include assessing the applicants, providing adequate compensation for the employees, and providing necessary training for them. Having a group of employees with good-working attitudes may help managers to encourage them to pursue a career development training. In turn, the company may benefit from such an array of employees.
