Efficiency measurement of production operations under uncertainty

Article Abstract:

A study has been conducted to measure the efficiency of production operations under uncertainties using the non-parametric method. The data envelopment analysis was used to handle inputs and outputs of individual operations subject to random disturbances. The performance of each production operation was evaluated using a new approach based on certainty equivalence of utility functions. Appropriate models for implementing the approach are presented.

Evaluating manufacturing strategy formulation process

Article Abstract:

A method is developed for evaluating the manufacturing strategy formulation process of companies. Processes are evaluated based on criteria which include objectives of the process, process performance measures, procedures, participants in the process, and process management strategies. The method was then applied to an aerospace manufacturing company to develop ways of meeting target cost and lead time reductions.

Productivity and quality changes in Swedish pharmacies

Article Abstract:

Data envelopment analysis methods using linear programming were used to evaluate the performance and productivity of individual operations of 257 Swedish pharmacies for the years 1990-1991. Only data on input and output quantities of the pharmacies were incorporated into the production model. These criteria were used together with ratio of distance functions to determine the service quality of the pharmacies.
